One-hour parking is available for non-residents throughout the area with a slightly longer allowance given during Sunday morning service. To park for longer than one hour, there is a garage nearby at the Gaillard Auditorium on George Street. Please note that street parking for more than one hour is restricted to residents with a city sticker.
If you are a member of the church, please contact the church office at (843) 723-8818 to receive a "Notice of Special Exception" placard to place on the dashboard of your car. This placard allows for longer parking times for church-related events and business.
The City of Charleston does not issue tickets for overtime parking on Sundays until after 2:00 PM. Tickets are issued for illegal parking 24/7. We have orange passes that identify the car as belonging to a member of St. Stephen's on church business, which the Parking Enforcement Department does find helpful. Church business means the following: Sunday services, evening and weekday services, meetings, and events. These parking passes are meant to protect you from overtime parking - NOT ILLEGAL PARKING. If you are illegally parked, you will get a ticket. Illegal parking means blocking a fire hydrant or a driveway, parking on the yellow line, parking too close to a driveway or fire hydrant, parking in front of the first residential parking sign from a corner, and parking on the sidewalk or in the street.
If you do get a ticket, go to the Traffic and Transportation Dept. on Lockwood Drive at the times listed for hearings on the back of your ticket. Most of the time, you will be seeing Robert Somerville, the Assistant Director, or Michael Mathis. They are both very nice men who will help you and may reduce or rescind the fine.
Please notify the Parish Office if you have a meeting or function to schedule on the Master Calendar. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Church Office at (843) 723-8818 or email@example.com. The Parish Office is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M.
